Day 313: This shouldn't take long, right?

Day 313: This shouldn't take long, right?

Wrong!

Faythe had to go out and run a few errands this morning, so I stayed home with the kids to do a few chores. For most people, the simple activity of vacuuming the living room and dusting a few shelves is a run of the mill everyday task; but it is a whole new ball game when you have three kids five years old and under to keep you busy the whole time. So let me run through my morning attempting to do these chores:

* Started off with picking up all of the toys all over the floor, so I bribed the kids and told them they could have some candy if they picked up the toys.
* Help them pick up the toys, since they only do about 50% of the job
* Get the kids their reward candy
* Run downstairs to the basement to get some dusting rags
* Come back upstairs, wipe the chocolate off Micah's hands and mouth.
* Clear off one shelf and start dusting it.
* Get the kids started cleaning up another mess that they made down in our family room.
* Phone call #1, Faythe needs window measurements for our kitchen window that she is getting a blind for.
* Run out to the garage and get my tape measure, give her the measurements on the phone.
* Cut the phone call with Faythe short, due to a fight brewing downstairs.
* Run downstairs and find Micah and Gracie playing tug-o-war with the baby monitor.
* Separate the kids, and put Micah on a timeout.
* Go back upstairs to resume dusting
* After about 10 seconds, I have to run down again to break up another fight.
* What I find is the kids making a huge mess in Gracie's room, which she already spent a bunch of time this morning cleaning.
* Kick all 3 kids out of Gracie's room, and have them finish cleaning the mess they made in the family room.
* Go back upstairs to resume dusting
* Finish two more shelves
* Phone call #2, my brother in law Jim calls about food for the party tomorrow. I also ask Jim a few questions about my insurance policy, since he is the expert.
* Run downstairs to check on the kids. First thing I notice is that Sophie stinks bad.
* Bring Sophie back upstairs to change her poopy diaper
* Resume dusting, while Sophie sits on the lazyboy chair and reads some books
* Finish the last shelf on one of the room's bookshelves. Wooo hooo, progress!!!
* Start working on dusting the two Ikea wall shelves. Finish wall shelf #1.
* Run downstairs to break up another fight/cryingfest. Take away some halloween bags from Micah, that I have no idea where he got them from.
* Resume dusting
* Go outside on the front porch to shake the dust off my rag
* Back inside, I find Micah crying because he can't get into Gracie's room. I tell him he doens't need to cry about that because noone is going in Gracie's room right now.
* Finish dusting wall shelf #2
* Sophie "scares" me with her snake made of a flannel scarf/belt
* Resume dusting, Sophie goes downstairs to watch Micah and Gracie playing tic-tac-toe
* Finish dusting a few more shelves, and it is now time to vacuum!!!

Got Baby?!

Got Baby?!

I was busy while I was away...

I started having pre-labor contractions on Friday. They were very close together. I told my husband "Tomorrow is IT", "Are you sure? Should I call in and let them know I am not coming into work?", I told him we'll wait and see.

So at 6:30 a.m Saturday morning my contractions were faster & more intense. I called my O.B office at 8 a.m and told them what was going on. They said I could wait and see.

We called my mother in law and told her to come get my daughter.

After grabbing my packed bag. Me and husband went to buy some squeeze balls for the labor. All the while I am jotting & timing contractions.

I decided to go to the park -- to walk around. My husband wasn't sure about that since the contractions were so intense. We walked around until 12 p.m and I said "We should go to the hospital now.."

We got in the room and they got me hooked up to the FHM, monitored me until 1 p.m. The O.B checked me.

They were going to send me home - "you aren't dilated", it was 2 p.m by now. The nurse suggested the contractions had slowed down "mabye you should walk around a bit?"

Sure enough my water broke at 3 p.m, an hour later at 4 p.m they checked me again (only dilated 3 centimeters...) at 5:20 p.m (...dilated at 9 1/2 centimeters) {{no drugs!! )) and 5 minutes of pushing arrived little Trevor.
